Lamborghini's first-ever production electrified supercar was unveiled to public on Tuesday at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The newest hybrid supercar will be known as Sian FKP 37. It is named in honour of the late Ferdinand K. Piech, who recently passed away and masterminded the VW Group for many years. While the moniker Sian translates as 'Lightning Bolt' in a Northern Italian dialect.
The new electric vehicle (EV) does not store energy in a lithium-ion battery pack, but instead it has a supercapacitor, an entirely different way of storing electricity, developed in co-operation with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The Sian FKP 37 is capable of going from 0-100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and will go on to a top speed of over 349 km/h - that makes the hybrid Sian the fastest and most powerful Lambourghini ever made.
Only 63 models will ever be built, all of which have been sold at a cost of over €2 million ($2.2 million) prior to its debut.
