Mourners gathered outside an animation studio in Kyoto, Japan, on Friday to lay flowers and offer prayers after 33 people were killed in an arson attack.
A 41-year old man burst into the Kyoto Animation's 1st Studio on Thursday and shouted, "You die!" before dousing it with flammable liquid and setting it on fire, killing 33 and injuring dozens.
The attack has sparked an outpouring of grief among anime fans across Japan. Nearly $1 million dollars (€891,000) has been raised to help victims and their families, as well as to rebuild the damaged studio. Many attended a vigil outside the scene of the attack to lay flowers and offer prayers.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and so far, the motive for the arson has not been reported and the suspect's relationship with the animation company has not been identified.
