Germany: Hundreds of PEGIDA protesters hit Munich

Hundreds of supporters of the anti-Islamic movement PEGIDA were greeted by some 2,000 counter-protesters, during a demonstration in Munich, Monday. PEGIDA demonstrators held banners with messages such as "Child abusers, moralizers, get out of the government" and " stop the islamisation of Europe", as they marched through the city police escorting them. Meanwhile, in front of the city's opera hall, counter-protesters gathered, rallying for the government to adapt a friendlier refugee policy. Police presence was high as clashes were expected, however the demonstration remained peaceful and no arrests were made.
