In an interview with RT in Moscow, on Monday, former Turkish Foreign Minister, Yashar Yakish voiced his optimism about the future of relations between Turkey and Russia after the appointment of Turkey's new Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.
Yakish cited the history of the relationship between the two countries as a building block, “Turkey and Russia were able to compartmentalise their relations in the past, that's to say if something goes wrong in one area it should not have negative effects in another field, this was implemented for several years in the relations between Turkey and Russia and now I think we can come back to these days and we can continue to try to improve our relations.”
During the interview, Yakish said that, as the new Prime Minister, Yildirim has a “golden opportunity” to develop Turkey’s foreign policy with countries such as Israel and Russia.
