Feds To Oppose Comcast-Time Warner Merger

Bloomberg News reports the Department of Justice's antitrust division looks set to advise the Federal Communications Commission to block the Comcast-Time Warner Cable merger on the grounds that it would harm consumers. In a statement, Comcast spokeswoman Sena Fitzmaurice said there is "no basis for a lawsuit to block the transaction" and argued that the merger “will result in significant consumer benefits." Time Warner Cable spokesman Bobby Amirshahi said “we have been working productively with both DOJ and FCC and believe that there is no basis for DOJ to block the deal.”
