The leader of the Bulgarian Ataka political party Volen Siderov proposed to the Bulgarian parliament in Sofia, Tuesday, that Bulgaria join the Russian-led international coalition against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) forces in Syria. Siderov exclaimed that he was "convinced that Bulgaria must stay on the side of the civilized countries, on the side of the coalition initiated by the Russian President," adding that "Bulgaria will be doing its contribution to stopping the migrant wave, which is impending Europe's fundamentals." The proposals are for a mostly symbolic support of the anti-IS operations, "but this support will clearly show the Bulgarian position as we signed a resolution condemning human rights violations in the territories where the terrorists of IS are acting," continued Siderov The proposal to join the Russian-led coalition was tabled on Tuesday with the Ataka party calling for the Bulgarian parliament to review the proposal on Wednesday.
