German Chancellor Angela Merkel along with the Minister-President of Baden-Wurttemberg Winfried Kretschmann attended the inauguration of the new Bosch Research Centre in Renningen, near Stuttgart, Wednesday. "We have to become more innovative, more productive. We, as the federal government, have again and again made sure that today we think about the tomorrow as well," Merkel said during her speech, as she commented on Germany's transition to a more automated industry. The chancellor admitted that there are deficits in the IT sector that must be eliminated to successfully merge the industry and IT sectors "through Industry 4.0," Merkel stated. Some 1,700 researchers will work in the new €310 million ($354.72 million) research centre, on future technologies such as electromobility.
