Hundreds of protesters arrived in Manchester on Saturday in preparation for a 5-day protest outside the annual Conservative conference. Protesters gathered in the city's Piccadilly Station hoping to ambush Conservatives as they arrived, holding "Tories not welcome: go home" banners and chanting "Tory scum." Some protesters performed a 'flashmob' choir at the station. Manchester is a Labour stronghold, with the party currently holding 96 out of 96 seats in the city compared to the Conservatives' zero. The Mancunian TV presenter Terry Christian this week claimed that "Tories are rarer than Unicorns in Manchester."
