SOT, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish President (Turkish): "Dear friends, first of all, all of our preparations along the Syrian border were completed. The US, as it is known is our strategic partner and we are together in NATO. Apart from this, we have been continuing this strategic partnership for a long time. We are in the same spot. We don't have any such desire as to have a confrontation with the US. However, we cannot afford to ignore the support the US provides to terrorist organisations in a place where it is not invited. The support that the US is providing to terrorist groups such as YPG/PYD is obvious."
SOT, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish President (Turkish): "For sure this is not an issue that is removed from the table [S400]. When Mr Trump asked me during our conversion on the phone if it is still in our agenda, I told him that yes it is, just as we have purchased the S400 and its delivery is happening right now, I told him that, we can also get the patriot [defence system] from you too if the conditions such as the joint production and credits, can be settled. Of course, we can not put F35s on the side. We have paid $1.35 billion up to now. We are not customers for F35s we produce F35. As it is known some parts of those aircraft are manufactured in our country. This sort of practice is not fair. If all these issues are put in order in a mutual agreement, it is out of question for us to behave differently.
SOT, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish President (Turkish): "This is not an issue just for Turkey. There are one hundred and ninety-six members of the UN now, why one hundred and ninety-one countries should wait for an answer which would come out from those five member's lips. Look, did any problems get solved? Could the Syria problem be solved? Could the Palestine problem be solved? Could the Jerusalem problem be solved? Could the Arakan problem [The Rohingya conflict] be solved? Kashmir, could be solved? None of those, when you look at it one by one, the UN is the institution to solve those issues, but they could not solve it. They cannot solve the Israel issue. The UN could not solve the Israel issue since 1948. It is going to be on my agenda. Israel does not recognise the decisions [resolutions] of the UN. They should give us an answer. Is today's Israel the same Israel as in 1948? I am talking territory wise, 1948 Israel is Palestine of today and the 1948 Palestine is the Israel of today. And that Palestine is unfortunately, very close to losing its present territory."

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the UN is falling short of resolving outstanding problems during a press conference at Ataturk International Airport on Saturday, ahead of his departure to New York to address the United Nations General Assembly.
"There are one hundred and ninety-six members of the UN now, why one hundred and ninety-one countries should wait for an answer which would come out from those five member's lips. Look, did any problems get solved?" Erdogan said adding that "when you look at it one by one, UN is the institution to solve those issues but they could not solve it."
The Turkish president said he was open to the purchase of the US Patriot air defence system, but that efforts to stop the purchase of S-400s would fail. He even dismissed Washington's promise to suspend deliveries of F35 jets to Turkey.
Erdogan also criticised US support for the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in northern SYria, labelling them terrorists.
