Rescuers recovered several children that were buried under debris after a 6.2 magnitude earthquake had reduced the town of Amatrice and several other central Italian settlements to rubble, Wednesday.
The death toll has risen to at least 120, 35 of whom were reportedly killed in Amatrice, while 368 people were injured in total with victims in critical conditions being brought to hospitals in Rome.
The earthquake struck at around 3:33 am local time (01:33 GMT), and was felt across central Italy, including in the capital Rome some 126km (76 miles) away from the quake's epicentre, in the town of Norcia.
