SOT, Dmitry Alekseenko, Rosenergoatom branch deputy director (Russian): "This project was created based on the fact that there are a lot of regions in our country which are hard to reach for conventional construction works. It is difficult to build anything there, therefore this power plant unit can be quickly transported to a point where it is needed for delivering energy to residents and industrial facilities."

Russia's first floating nuclear power plant 'Academic Lomonosov' was shown to the media in the port city of Murmansk on Thursday ahead of its trip to the far eastern region of Chukotka.
"This project was created based on the fact that there are a lot of regions in our country which are hard to reach for conventional construction works. It is difficult to build anything there, therefore this power plant unit can be quickly transported to a point where it is needed for delivering energy to residents and industrial facilities," said Dmitry Alekseenko, a branch deputy director at Rosenergoatom, the plant producer.
'Academic Lomonosov' is set to begin its 5,000 km journey along the Arctic coast on Friday. After reaching its destination, the plant will begin producing energy as the world's northernmost nuclear power station.
