Russia: Putin salutes multiculturalism on National Unity Day

Russian President Vladimir Putin presented state awards to foreign dignitaries at a reception in honour of National Unity Day at the Kremlin in Moscow on Wednesday. Putin congratulated all the guests on the national celebrations, saying that "the establishment of this holiday and the meaning of it mark the invincible unity of our nation." The Order of Friendship was given to Salih Kapusuz, the head of the Turkish Grand National Assembly parliamentary group of friendship with the Russian Federation. The Medal of Pushkin was presented to the Azerbaijani President's daughter Leyla Aliyeva for her role as Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. Foreign Minister of the Republic of Congo Jean-Claude Gakosso also received the award. Speaking about the importance of cooperation between different nations and cooperation within Russia, Putin said that "it gives assurance and strength which only really devoted citizens can give to the Motherland."
