Lightning Injures 33 at Music Festival in Germany

Thirty-three people have been hurt after lightning struck twice at one of Germany’s biggest music festivals. The Rock am Ring festival in the town of Mendig, western Germany, was hit by two lightning strikes in the early hours of Saturday morning. According to police, the first strike hit the backstage area at about 1 AM, injuring eight people from the festival’s production teams. Organizers later halted concerts and offered visitors shelter in large, lightning-proof tents. Police said all of those injured had been taken to hospital for observation and were in good health. No one suffered a direct hit.
