UK: Victory for Labour-doodle in Westminster 'Dog of the Year' competition

08.09.2016
Labour MP for Stalybridge and Hyde Jonathon Reynold's two labradoodle sisters pipped 18 other political pooches to win the joint top spot in the Westminster Dog of the Year Competition outside the Houses of Parliament, in London, on Thursday. "It's about time we won something," quipped the MP.
Participants led their pets around an obstacle course involving hurdles and a tunnel to crawl through. Conservative MP Craig Mackinlay called it “a day of light relief compared to political battels going on.” Mackinlay added that he looked forward to “a little cuddle in the office” when he got back.
The Tories have held the top dog title for eight of the last nine years that the competition has been running. The event is organised annually to raise money for the dog charities Kennel Club and Dog’s Trust.
