Russia: US has not managed to convince militants to leave Aleppo - MoD

The US-led coalition in Syria and several international organisations have not intensified dialogue such that armed groups inside Aleppo would be willing to leave the city, the Head of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant-General Sergei Rudskoi, said in a statement from Moscow on Thursday.
Rudskoi also stated that Russia was willing "to assist [in] humanitarian aid deliveries to the eastern districts of Aleppo as well as to support humanitarian pauses." He went on to say that "militants are setting their control points and warehouses on the ground floors of residential buildings, while the inhabitants remain in the occupied buildings and serve as human shields. So far, these blatant facts continue to fall on deaf ears in Western countries. They neither want to admit the crimes of the militants nor to respond to them."
Moreover, the Russian military official commented on the "information campaign" set up against Russia in Syria, saying: "an information campaign has been launched on baseless charges against the Russian Aerospace Forces of the bombing of civilian targets and residential districts in Aleppo; not a single fact or a document has been provided. It is a pity that the US-led coalition has not been fighting against terrorists in Syria and Iraq with the same level of activity over the past two years."
Rudskoi also said that the Russian air force conducts "pre-adjusted strikes against targets outside the city of Aleppo and outside residential areas." He added, "each [such] strike is recorded by onboard control devices and drones. On the screen you can see the destruction of command centres, weapons warehouses and the places of the militants’ dislocation in the provinces of Idlib and Aleppo."
