Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned "the violence that was applied by French Police to the people who are seeking their humanitarian rights," in Istanbul, Monday.
Speaking at an event in the city’s Esenler district, Erdogan stated "I am very much concerned and worried about the incidents taking place in Paris," adding "I blame the international media which is not broadcasting these incidents to the world." He went on to compare the Paris protests to the Gezi protests in 2013.
Erdogan, who at the time was prime minister attacked western countries, in an attempt to justify the clashes between police and demonstrators and the subsequent violence against protesters, saying "why are you doing this to the ones in Brussels? Or, why did you act like that in Brazil? It is upsetting us extremely, the silence of the ones against these incidents in Paris who were disturbed by the scenes in Gezi."
