Italian Magazine Posts Leaked Draft of Pope's Climate Change Encyclical

An Italian-language draft of the Pope's potentially game-changing encyclical on climate change, which was set to be released on Thursday, has leaked to an Italian newspaper. The paper, L'Espresso, published an Italian language version of the document on its website on Monday.
An official Vatican statement said the embargo for Thursday morning remains in effect for media organizations, emphasizing that the leaked draft is not the final version. The encyclical, which is a letter sent to bishops that comes close to establishing the church's position on an issue, is expected to cast climate change in broad terms and vault religious, moral and ethical concerns to the forefront of a debate that is frequently framed only as an environmental one.
