Apps can do anything from shopping to predicting weather and traffic to getting you on the right train or Uber
One thing a lot of apps don't do: get your mother to stop asking why you never call and never write any more, tell your grandma you love her and say hi to your aunts and uncles
Enter Bloom, a startup that officially launched out of stealth operations on Tuesday. With a special tablet, a wearable location-marking band and a standalone smartphone application, Bloom hopes to connect several generations of families with video chat that is easy for older relatives to use without technical issues . The video screen for the Bloom tablet only has a select few oversized, friendly visual buttons on it. No complicated password is needed to log in. The idea is to make catching up with family easy, and move conversations away from the dense lines of text and bewildering distractions of Facebook.
