A group of around 100 people attended a candle-lit vigil for the victims of the shooting at a community college in Roseburg, Oregon, Thursday, after a 26-year-old gunman opened fire on students killing nine and wounding dozens more. The vigil took place in front of the City Hall in Portland at 20.00 local time (04.00 GMT). Some of the people attending had friends at the UCC college school in Roseburg, where the shooting took place at around 10:00 in the morning local time (18.00 GMT) on Thursday . Several members of the clergy officiated the vigil, among them, Reverend Mark Knutson from the Saint Augustin Church who called for gun controls to prevent such atrocities from occurring in the United States. A Portland youth poet, Maia Abbruzzese, was also in attendance and recited a poem to the mourning crowd.
