Workers continued to clear Tbilisi on Monday after heavy flooding devastated parts of the city on Sunday, leaving a path of destruction and mountains of mud on the city's streets. Hundreds of helpers showed up to give a helping hand. At least 12 people died in the floods and several buildings across the capital have been badly damaged, with several wild anilmals including tigers, lions and baboons managing to escape their enclosure's in the capital's zoo. A number of animals have been recaptured, including a hippopotamus that was cornered and tranquilised in one of Tbilisi's main squares earlier on Sunday but many others have died as a result of the floods. Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili advised residents of the capital to stay indoors until all the escaped animals have been found.
