Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers entered the al-Tabqa airbase, located in north-eastern Raqqa province, for the first time since 2014 on Tuesday, following a deal with Kurdish groups to help defend the north of Syria from the ongoing Turkish incursion in the region.
Footage from Wednesday shows soldiers celebrating with Syrian flags and a picture of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
Ankara's military offensive, dubbed 'Operation Peace Spring,' began on October 9 with the aim of creating a 'safe zone' in northern Syria cleared of Kurdish forces.
