Rita Wilson Shares News of Breast Cancer, Encourages Second Opinions

Rita Wilson has revealed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and recently underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. The 58-year-old actress has an underlying condition of LCIS, she explained in a statement to People . While two surgical breast biopsies did not show signs of cancer, she added, a second opinion from another pathologist found invasive lobular carcinoma. Wilson said, "I am recovering and most importantly, expected to make a full recovery. Why? Because I caught this early, have excellent doctors and because I got a second opinion."
