SOT, Cinzia Violanti, Fiumicino inhabitant (Italian): "This was what happened: a plane was taking off. We heard a roar, then like a wind suction, a strong hailstorm despite a sunny sky. We realised that we had pieces of iron everywhere. We had damaged cars, things, awnings, and more. The pieces were also very hot."

SOT, Antonello Gusinu, Fiumicino inhabitant (Italian): "I heard an airplane coming, a loud noise. I was wondering what was happening. I watched. The plane passed, turned, turned back and then a burst of pieces of metal, burning. In fact, two took me here by my side. I felt burned. And I said, what's going on? Pieces that fell on the pool, on the house, on all sides."

"We heard a roar, then like a wind suction, a strong hailstorm despite a sunny sky. We realised that we had pieces of iron everywhere. We had damaged cars, things, awnings, and more. The pieces were also very hot," explained a Fiumicino resident.
One man even claimed to have been struck on his side by a piece of debris.
