Following the mass shooting in Orlando, dozens protested outside the National Rifle Association (NRA) headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia, on Tuesday, demanding changes to American gun legislation.
Calling for stricter gun controls, the supporters expressed concerns over the current gun lobby: "We need to elect officials who will stand up for the people on this country, not people who are going to be bought and sold by the NRA", said one of the protesters.
"We can stop a lot of the gun violence that is happening in our communities and across America," stressed Lori Haas, representative of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence.
Forty-nine people were killed and dozens injured in a shooting at the LGBT nightclub 'Pulse' in Orlando on Sunday. The shooting is the deadliest attack in the US since 9/11. Omar Mateen, a US citizen of Afghan descent living in Port St. Lucie, has been identified as the culprit. He was killed during the SWAT operation at the club.
