Thousands of Gaza residents marched through Jabalia refugee camp in the north of the Gaza Strip on Wednesday in condemnation of recent Israeli violence against Palestinians. Marchers waved PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine) flags and chanted political slogans. Violence has escalated in recent week in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, with ongoing protests and attacks stemming from tensions over the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in east Jerusalem, as well as the continued construction of illegal Jewish settlements in the West Bank. Several Gazans have been killed in confrontations with Israeli forces at the frontier between the enclave and Israel. At least 30 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli soldiers since 1 October, and more than 1,700 injured, according to Palestinian medical sources. Seven Israelis were killed during the same period.
