Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau arrived at Lviv's Yavorov training ground on Tuesday, to inspect Canadian troops who are currently training the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
During the inspection, Trudeau was shown exercises designed to demonstrate the capability of the Ukrainian Army. While observing the exercises, the Prime Minister of Canada also spoke about the necessity to defend democracy and territorial integrity.
About 200 Canadian troops have been based in Yavorov training ground since January, and their mission is scheduled to wrap up in March. However the Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko asked the Canadian Prime Minister to extend the deployment for an indefinite period of time.
Trudeau arrived in Ukraine on Monday, on an official visit and has already met with President Poroshenko to sign a bilateral free trade agreement. During the visit, Trudeau also laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and commemorated the victims of the Holodomor.
