Tunisia's ex-president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali died passed away aged 83 while in exile in Saudi Arabia on Thursday.
Ben Ali served as president of Tunisia from 1987 until 2011, before being forced from office following mass street protests. The uprising triggered similar waves of unrest across the Arab world.
In 2012 and 2013 the ousted president was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment by a Tunisian court for inciting violence and murder and for violent repression of protests. An international arrest warrant was issued against him and his family but the Saudi government ignored requests to extradite them.
Ben Ali's lawyer Mounir Ben Salha told the media that the funeral will take place on Friday in Saudi Arabia.
