SOT, Cao Xue, chief designer of the 2022 Winter Olympics mascot (Mandarin): "The ice clothes are an armour that can be changed. And the halo on its face, called as the 'window of Ice Era' is the energy ring. When it lights up and turns in a circle with sound, a certain part of the body will be transformed."

The mascots for the 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games were presented in an official ceremony in Beijing on Tuesday.
The Olympics' mascot is called Bing Dwen Dwen, and it is a panda with a full bodysuit of ice, with halo surrounding its face. The Paralympics' mascot is called Shuey Rhon Rhon, which reportedly is pronounced the same as the Chinese character for snow. It is a Chinese lantern which has a millennia-old tradition, and it is a symbol for harvest, celebration, prosperity, and brightness, reports say.
"Today is an important step on a milestone in Beijing's journey to make history as the first ever in Olympic history to host both summer and winter editions of the Olympic Games," said Thomas Bach, the President of the International Olympic Committee President (IOC), while addressing the audience.
The 2022 Winter Olympic Games are scheduled to take place between February 4 and 20, while the 2022 Winter Paralympic Games will take place between March 4 and 13.
