Over 100,000 relatives of those who died fighting the Nazis took part in an Immortal Regiment march in St. Petersburg on Saturday, as part of events marking the 70th anniversary of the Soviet victory over the Nazis. The city's main street, Nevsky Prospekt, was packed with people honouring their loved ones who died during the Great Patriotic War - many of them during the Siege of Leningrad - by carrying their pictures. The siege lasted for almost 900 days and claimed the lives of well over one million people. Immortal Regiment marches were conducted across the length and breadth of the country, with a total of over one million people believed to have taken part in the parades.
