Bill Clinton Backs Off 'Three-Strikes" Law as Hillary Takes on Criminal Justice

Bill Clinton on Wednesday defended his efforts to get tough on crime during his presidency, saying the initiatives got warped as they moved through Congress and should now be changed. Clinton’s policing legacy has come under new scrutiny after Hillary Clinton last week called for a broad rethink on policing and incarceration after a series of incidents in which unarmed black men have died after encounters with police. Bill Clinton said he supports her backing away from the three-strikes criminal-justice policy that was put in place while he was in the White House.
