French European Parliament MP Nadine Morano invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to address the European Parliament during a speech in Moscow on Thursday. She was speaking at an international parliamentary forum in the Russian capital. Morano said an address by President Putin to the EU's legislative body would allow him to "present his views, his position" on a range of political issues. The MEP for the centre-right Les Républicains party of former French President Nicolas Sarkozy is at the head of a cross-party group of MEPs seeking to have the standing EU sanctions against Moscow lifted.
