New Line Picks Up Distribution, Narrative Remake Rights to 'Batkid' Documentary

New Line has picked up the worldwide rights to distribute Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around the World, the documentary about young cancer survivor Miles Scott and how his Make-a-Wish event took San Francisco, and the nation, by storm.
At the same time, the company has picked up the narrative remake rights, which involves a project being developed by Julia Roberts. Roberts would star and produce with her Red Om Films partners Lisa Gilla and Marisa Yeres.
The documentary premiered at this year’s Slamdance Film Festival, where it caught the eye of New Line execs Carolyn Blackwood, Michael Disco and Josh Mack. Disco and Mack will oversee for the company.
