SOT, Dr. Laila Ghannam, Ramallah and al-Bireh governor (Arabic): "Today is a historic day with a Saudi team at our court. Today we are not only talking about sports, we are talking about politics, patriotism and morality. Because we host the Saudi team and we like the guests to be happy. The Palestinian people are very happy with this visit. As our president says, a prisoner's visit does not mean normalisation with the jailer. We welcome their visit to Palestine and the Saudi team will leave as ambassadors for the Palestinian cause."

SOT, Omar al-Jafari, Spokesperson for Palestinian Football Association (Arabic): "Our message today at the Palestinian Football Federation is a national message with distinction. Today we received the Saudi brothers in a football match. But this game comes within the framework of consolidating our right on this Palestinian land and the consolidation of our right in our stadiums, and the status of the Palestinian team from the place and high position among the other teams."

The Saudi national football team arrived in Ramallah on Sunday, ahead of its clash with the Palestinian national team on Tuesday. The game marks the first time the Saudi team is playing in the Palestinian territory.
The game marks a change in policy for Riyadh, which has previously played matches against Palestine in third-party countries.
Arab clubs and national teams have historically refused to play in Palestine since to do so they would have to apply for Israeli entry permits.
"Today is a historic day," said Ramallah and al-Bireh governor Dr. Laila Ghannam. "Today we are not only talking about sports, but we are talking about politics, patriotism, and morality."
"As our president says, a prisoner's visit does not mean normalisation with the jailer," Ghannam added.
Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas has reportedly invited Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to attend the match.
