Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan gave an address at the opening ceremony of the autumn session, at the Turkish Parliament in Ankara, Saturday.
During his speech, Erdogan discussed recent developments in Russia and Turkey's relations. He said, "Along with keeping up the efforts for reconciliation of our differences of opinion, we plan to restore our relations with Russia to the former point and an even better one than before.''
The Turkish President also used the speech to cast doubts on the EU's commitment to providing Turkish citizens with visa-free travel. "When we look at the statements made by the Union, we see efforts on the vital issues for Turkey - such as fight against terror - being converted into the precondition of the process. I am saying it openly, this attitude is a declaration that the EU is reneging on promises of a visa-free regime."
