Belgium: Puigdemont released as he turns himself to authorities

SOT, Carles Puigdemont, former president of Catalonia (Catalan): "Since yesterday morning I have been at the disposal of the Belgian authorities after learning that there was a European arrest warrant. I have appeared before the judge and the judge has now set the conditions for my release without bail, with the possibility of leaving the country with his permission. I am now taking the residence where I registered it and informing obviously about the things that are require. I am available when necessary because now obviously the process begins which will have to end with an agreement from the Belgian judiciary which will have to decide on the petition".

Former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont was released by the Belgian authorities after he turned himself in following the latest arrest warrant issued by Spain.
"Since yesterday morning I have been at the disposal of the Belgian authorities after learning that there was a European arrest warrant. I have appeared before the judge and the judge has now set the conditions for my release without bail, with the possibility of leaving the country with his permission,” said Puigdemont.
A Spanish judge Llarena issued the third 'euro-warrant' against Puigdemont after the Supreme Court sentenced nine leaders of Catalonia’s pro-independence movement to between 9 and 13 years in prison for the role in the authorised referendum in 2017.
