Protesters clashed with police forces outside the US Embassy in Athens on Wednesday, during a march to honour George Floyd who died in Minneapolis on May 25 .
People marched with 'Black Lives Matter' signs and banners, and stopped outside the embassy building. A group of demonstrators left the rally and started clashing with police, which responded with tear gas.
Floyd, an African-American and a Houston native, died in Minneapolis on May 25 after a police officer knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes as he was recorded saying, "I can't breathe" and "Don't kill me."
The four officers involved in the incident have since been fired. The officer who knelt on Floyd's neck was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter.
