Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said multilateralism is "an absolute need" for mankind, and criticised the United States for unilateral policies towards other countries. Zarif was speaking at the first International Conference on the Unilateralism and International Law in Tehran on Monday.
"Multilateralism was an absolute need for mankind and it has been many decades that the world cannot exist without multilateralism," said Zarif. "We should not allow the US again to demonstrate its unilateralism policy as a multilateralism policy. By doing so, its implementation will be easier and it will be tougher to confront it that I am sure that wise Iranian people will not allow Mr. Trump to achieve such demands."
Zarif also expressed solidarity with the Lebanese people, who are staging massive anti-government protests in their country. "In addition to the security, tranquility and Lebanon's stability which should be kept, the fair demands of people of Lebanon must be considered."
