Clashes broke out between anti-government protesters and police outside the Central University of Venezuela in Caracas on Thursday following opposition leader Juan Guaido's calls for anti-government protests.
Protesters could be seen throwing objects towards police while some protected themselves from tear gas using masks and self-made shields.
On Thursday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro began the deployment of the National Bolivarian Militia amid calls for anti-government protests by opposition leader and President of the National Assembly Guaido, who was recognised as the country's interim president by some 54 countries.
