Parisians reacted to French President Emmanuel Macron's concessions in the French capital on Tuesday.
Some residents expressed scepticism that the announced measures would bring a change.
"I have the feeling that it's not a great change in Emanuel Macron's policy. So I don't think it is a great change of direction. But I think the most interesting to see that he did a sort of mea culpa", said a Rabbi student Emile Ackermann.
Another resident praised Macron's move, saying that "it's a tactical back off, it's not a step back because he wants France to remain the strongest country in the European Union."
In his national address on Monday, following weeks of 'Yellow Vest' protests and civil unrest, Macron announced a rise in the minimum wage of €100 (US $114) per month as of 2019, as well as cancelling a planned tax on pensions under €2,000 ($2,271) a month.
The president also declared that overtime hours would no longer be taxed, and that employers would be asked to pay end-of-year bonuses to employees which would also be tax-free.
