Around 1,000 protesters took to the streets of Louveciennes in the Ile-de-France region, to protest against the proposed building of accommodation for refugees from the Calais camp.
Pierre-Francois Viard, the Mayor of Louveciennes, explained that he wasn't against refugees, rather that he opposed to camp for "security reasons," as the camp is very close to the major road, according to Viard.
Ile de France regional councilor Axel Loustau of the Front National, who was on the march, stated: "The problem is not to distribute migrants across France; the problem is that French people don't want them anymore. The French don't want immigration."
On September 24, French President Francois Hollande announced that thousands of migrants living in Calais would be dispersed around France. "Our intention is to dismantle Calais entirely, and to promote this reception and orientation centres and relocate people throughout the French territory between three and four months," he stated.
