The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) say that one person died and at least three, including one child, are feared trapped under rubble after an explosion at a five-storey housing block in the city of Yaroslavl, Tuesday.
According to EMERCOM, an entire floor of a building collapsed because of a powerful gas explosion that occurred at around 04:20 Moscow time (01:20 GMT).
Of the people to have have been inside at the time of the blast, five were reportedly rescued, with one dying in hospital. The other four are in a local hospital in critical conditions, according to reports.
EMERCOM units consisting of around 200 personnel have been deployed. Two helicopters have also been sent to the scene by the ministry to help those with more serious injuries get to hospital.
Emergency services are said to be warning people that a further collapse could occur. People living close to the collapsed building are being evacuated as well.
