SOT, Ernesto Carrasco, Demonstrator (Spanish): "Because of the corruption and because they are not working, they are not doing their job, they are helping the people who are in corruption, the work of the congress is being paid by the people and the people must demand that they work and that corruption be eliminated, but Congress, congressmen are not working as they should work.
SOT, Ernesto Carrasco, Demonstrator (Spanish): "Let them close the congress and put people who want to work and have a spirit of progress."
SOT, Julia Mamani, Demonstrator (Spanish): "We are giving our full support to the president of the republic because we agree with what is happening, it is not possible for the congress to do what it wants, both in the previous legislation and in this new process, it is not possible, We are against all this corruption that is a shield (cover-up) and is not consistent with all the needs that the people claim, we are supporting new elections."
SOT, Julia Mamani, Demonstrator (Spanish): "It is not possible, not more to corruption, not more to armor, it is a scandal what happens with Hinostroza, it is a scandal what happens with Chavarry (both investigated for cases of corruption of officials)."
SOT, Marta Celis, Demonstrator (Spanish): "He is calling for new elections, in a year, a new electoral process, we really didn't think he was going to be so detached, because he said 'the congress and me too,' he heard the voice of the people and the people asked a long time ago to let the congress close and all the corrupt ones leave, it is simply the voice of the people."
SOT, Humberto Gamboa, Demonstrator (Spanish): "He has been a brave man and is showing that his fight against corruption is sincere, it is straightforward, because no one has put his life at stake as he has done, says what he has said and is doing what he is doing, because nobody, no person with such a high position is going to discount a year from his term, that shows that he is really fighting. Enough of the criminal organizations that have ruled Peru, because that is, criminal organizations that are debasing all of Peru and have made it almost a narco state, enough."
SOT, Jose Vidal, Demonstrator (Spanish): "What he has wanted is to dissolve the congress, but since these bandits have put an appeal before the constitutional court, he has preferred the other party to call for general elections, including himself, that is, now the Fujimori and those who are against a change radical so that all the corrupt go to jail and have no other way out but approve that project, but approve to it there would proceed the dissolution of the congress."
SOT, Jose Vidal, Demonstrator (Spanish): "Let them all go, call general elections is the vox populi of the people."

Locals in Lima on Sunday reacted to the proposal of Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra to cut short the legislative and presidential terms a year earlier than scheduled and to hold fresh elections in 2020, to end what he described as an institutional crisis.
"We are giving our full support to the president of the republic because we agree with what is happening...we are against all this corruption that is a shield (cover-up) and is not consistent with all the needs that the people claim, we are supporting new elections," said one demonstrator, Julia Mamani.
Another, Marta Celis, said "he heard the voice of the people and the people asked a long time ago to let the congress close and all the corrupt ones leave, it is simply the voice of the people."
Jose Vidal echoed their remarks, saying "let them all go, call general elections is the vox populi of the people."
Vizcarra made the proposal during the annual Independence Day speech before the Peruvian Congress on Sunday. Vizcarra said before early elections could take place, the proposal would need to be passed by Congress and then approved in a referendum. The call for early elections comes amid political deadlock and a power struggle between the executive and legislative branches of government.
