UEFA President Michel Platini evaded questions concerning whether or not he will stand as candidate to replace outgoing FIFA president Sepp Blatter, at a press conference held to open ticket sales for EURO 2016, in Paris on Wednesday. Platini stated unequivocally that he would not allow questions "on the topic of FIFA," adding that he ‘knew nothing’ as to the situation in the football federation. Platini, a former ally of Blatter, became one of his strongest critics before his resignation last week after 17 years in charge of FIFA. The former leader of global football's governing body announced his resignation only four days after he was re-elected to the position. His declaration came as two corruption investigations were launched into the organisation, which saw 14 FIFA officials and associated executives detained in early June.
