Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras visited the island of Lesbos accompanied by Austrian Chancellor Werner Fayman on Tuesday. The visit comes after Austria announced that it will send 100 experts to assist the Greek authorities in the creation of infrastructure in migration 'hotspots', which will be used as a base for reallocating refugees to other EU counties. The two leaders were given a tour of the island's reception and identification centre, one of the major gateways for refugees sailing from Turkish shores, before confirming that Austria and Greece will be cooperating closely in tackling the crisis. According to UN data some 400,000 people have arrived to Greece by sea this year, with almost half arriving on the shores of Lesbos, an island with a population of 86,000.
