Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde admitted his side were second best against Borussia Dortmund in their opening Champions League game at the Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night.
Barcelona had Marc-Andre ter Stegen to thank for escaping with a point after he saved Marco Reus's penalty.
Lionel Messi made his first appearance of the season off the bench late on, but to little effect.
Valverde also noted the impact of the famed 'Yellow Wall', ensuring a "rough game" for the Catalan giants.
Dortmund manager Lucien Favre said the result was "positive". Indeed, this point could prove vital in the battle for qualification from Group F - the so-called 'Group of Death' - containing Serie A leaders Inter Milan and Czech side Slavia Prague.
