Historic Vote Ends Same-Sex Teaching at Oxford

04.06.2015
The last all-male Oxford University institution has voted unanimously to admit women students. The vote at St. Benet's Hall on Thursday ended single-sex education at Oxford and will see it admitting female undergraduates for the first time. Professor Werner Jeanrond, master of St. Benet's, said it was "self evident" both women and men should be admitted. It comes a week after the nomination of Louise Richardson as Oxford University's first female vice chancellor. The decision will bring to an end the last single-sex hall or college at the University of Oxford since St. Hilda’s, previously an all female college, began admitting men in 2008.
