German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and other delegates from around 20 countries including Bahrain, France, Norway arrived at the anti-Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) strategy meeting held in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Paris, Tuesday. The recapture of the Iraqi city of Ramadi is said to be the focal point of Tuesday's talks. Ramadi, some 105km (65 miles) west of Baghdad, was taken by IS fighters on May 17, after days of intense fighting. US Secretary of State John Kerry was supposed to co-chair the meeting, alongside French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius and Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, however, Kerry returned to the US on Sunday after suffering a fractured femur as a result of a bicycle accident in the French Alps.
