Pro-Kurdish protesters gathered in Adana to rally against the Turkish state's military operations against Kurdish fighters in the south-eastern provinces, Tuesday. The rally turned violent with clashes breaking out between protesters and police, who used tear gas and batons to disperse the crowd. A prominent Turkish politician from the Peoples Democratic Party, Meral Danis Bestas, was among the protesters and was lead to safety after falling victim to tear gas. Tension continues to spill over from south-eastern Turkey as Turkish forces step up their offensive against fighters of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK). A recent video that claims to show a Kurdish militant being dragged through the streets of Sirnak by a Turkish military truck has served to inflame the situation.
