El Salvador: El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala launch joint task-force to tackle organised crime

The presidents of El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala signed an agreement on forming a trilateral task-force to crack down on organised crime structures in the region, announced Salvador Sanchez Ceren, Juan Orlando Hernandez and Jimmy Morales iin San Salvador on Tuesday.
Speaking at a joint press conference, Hernandez stated "It is clear that we have to fight for peace and tranquility in Central America. Pushing our production, creating opportunities cannot be achieved if we do not tackle the main problem. And one of the challenges facing the region is the network of drug gangs, human traffiking, weapons, dollars, gangs."
The leaders did not comment on whether the force will be made up of military or police, nor did they give any further details.
Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala are located in one of the world's most dangerous regions according to the United Nations.
