High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini arrived in Luxembourg, Monday, to attend a Foreign Affairs Council meeting covering the issues of the Mediterranean migrant crisis, the extension of sanctions on Russia and the Iranian nuclear deal that is supposed to be finalised on June 30. Speaking at the Kirchberg European Commission building in Luxembourg, Mogherini said that she intends to propose that the Council of Ministers "adopt a decision to launch a naval operation to attack the smugglers and the traffickers and dismantle their business model." The EU High Representative also stated that she will chair a meeting with the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Zarif and representatives from Germany, France and the UK on the "last stages of negotiations on the Iranian nuclear deal."
